The Today tab
One number, not a dashboard.
Open the app and the Today tab shows what is left of your cycle: your income, minus what you have spent, minus what you have set aside for bills that are not monthly, minus the recurring outflows still to come.

Invented numbers, calculated the way the app calculates them. The note above appears only after saving a movement, only past the middle of the cycle, and only when the pace is above the threshold. Try the dinner button around day 18.
The cycle
A calendar month by default. With a recurring income, a pay cycle that runs from one pay day to the next. The formulas are the same in both.
Set-asides
Spread an annual bill, like insurance or a car tax, over the cycles that remain, so it never lands on a single month.
Spending pace
Past the middle of a cycle, a short note appears only if you are using the margin faster than the cycle is passing.
The Analysis tab
Where the difference comes from.
Last cycle against this one, over the same number of days. A cycle that has just begun is never flattered by one that is finished, and the gap is split into contributions that add up to the cent.
Same window
Both periods are cut to the same number of days from their start, and the screen says which days.
Exact sums
Contributions add up to the difference at every level: category, description, single movement.
Outflows only
The comparison looks at what went out. Transfers between your own accounts are never counted as spending.
All outflows
difference in outflows+€70.30The comparison uses the same 12 days from the start of each period.
- unchangedSubscriptions
sum of the contributions matches the difference shown
Demo with invented numbers. Tap a row to go one level down, from category to description to the single movement.
Recurring expenses and subscriptions
It notices what repeats.
When the same expense shows up in at least three separate periods, the app proposes it and shows the evidence: how many cycles, the median amount, the usual day. Nothing is added until you say so.
Evidence, not a verdict
Every suggestion carries its numbers and a dashed outline, because a suggestion is not yet a fact.
Ignoring is reversible
Ignored suggestions wait in a list, and each one can be put back among the detected ones.
Subscriptions
Declare a renewal date and a recurring expense becomes a subscription: listed by renewal, with the yearly total, and a reminder three days before it renews.
Recurring expenses
active
- Rentmonthly, expected on day 1€480.00
- Electricitymonthly, expected on day 6€68.00
- Internetmonthly, expected on day 15€29.90
detected
- Gym€35.00
9 cycles out of 9 · median €35.00 · expected on day 24
- Streaming€10.99
6 cycles out of 6 · median €10.99 · expected on day 27
Demo with invented numbers. Add or ignore a detected expense; an ignored one can be put back.
Adding a movement
Quick to record. Honest about it.
The form opens on today’s date, the account you used last, and the amount. Type a description and it suggests earlier ones, filling category, usual amount and account. The confirmation appears only after the save has really happened.
Widget
Small and medium Home Screen widgets show the margin and the days left. Tap one to add a movement.
Siri and Shortcuts
An action records an expense without opening the app. The voice phrases are still being refined.
Apple Pay
A Shortcuts automation can send each payment to the app, marked to confirm and already counted in your margin. You set it up once: iOS does not let an app create it for you.
Demo with invented numbers. Pick a suggestion or type your own, then save.
Private by design
Your data never needs a server.
There is nothing to sign up for, no bank to connect and nobody on the other end collecting. Here is what that means in practice.
- 0accounts to create
- 0servers of ours
- 0third-party SDKs in the app
- 0ads or analytics
- Where your data lives
- In a local database on your iPhone.
- Sync
- Optional, through your private iCloud database. Apple operates it. MoneyVision has no server that receives your data.
- Network
- The app's own code opens no network connections. A test scans the source to keep it that way.
- Permissions
- Notifications, if you want them. Nothing else is requested.
- Import and export
- Through the system file picker. Export is a versioned JSON document.
- Platform
- iPhone, iOS 26 or later.
- Languages
- English and Italian.
- Price
- Planned as free. No subscription in the version being built.
- Built with
- Swift 6.2, SwiftUI, SwiftData, CloudKit, WidgetKit and App Intents.
- Money
- Whole cents throughout. No floating point in any calculation.
These statements describe the code as it is today. The privacy manifest and the App Store privacy labels are still to be written before release. Read the privacy page for the full text.
Where it stands
A real app, still in progress.
MoneyVision is not on TestFlight or the App Store yet. This is what exists, what still has to be proven, and what has not been started. The build log has the dates.

Questions
Plain answers.
Is MoneyVision available?
Not yet. It is in development for iPhone and is not on TestFlight or the App Store. The build log shows what exists today, and you can email to be told once when it launches.
How much will it cost?
The plan is a free app, with no subscription and no paid tier in the version being built. Nothing beyond that is promised until it is released.
Do I need an account?
No. First-run setup asks for a currency, how to count the month and, if you like, your accounts. Every step can be skipped. There is no sign-up, no email address and no password.
Does it connect to my bank?
No. There is no bank link and no request for credentials. You record movements yourself, from the app, from the Home Screen widget or through Shortcuts.
Where is my data?
On your iPhone, in a local database. If you are signed in to iCloud, the app can replicate it through your private iCloud database, which Apple operates under your Apple Account. MoneyVision has no server that receives it. Without iCloud the app works on this device only.
What is the margin, exactly?
The income of the cycle, minus the outflows recorded, minus the set-asides still to cover, minus the recurring outflows still expected. Tap the number in the app and the four terms are listed. They always add up to the figure shown.
Why a pay cycle and not a calendar month?
If your pay arrives on the 13th, a calendar month ends on the wrong day for you. The default is the calendar month. If you have a recurring income you can switch to a pay cycle, which runs from one pay day to the next. Everything else is calculated the same way.
Does it have budgets per category?
Not in version 1. In a year of using the web version, no category budget was ever set, so the first release relies on the margin and on set-asides for annual bills. Budgets may come later, proposed from your own history.
Which devices and languages?
iPhone with iOS 26 or later, in English and Italian. Each archive uses a single currency, picked from the list the system knows.
Who makes it?
MoneyVision is an independent project from Italy, built by one developer. It started in June 2025 as a web app and is being rebuilt as a native iPhone app.
